Even Jalopnik ran the headline, “New Mazda Rotary Sports Car Approved for 2020: Report”. Granted, once you get past the lede, there’s obvious skepticism, but that doesn’t change the implications of the headline.

Road & Track, on the other hand, managed to publish a headline that actually reflects the content of Tarvis’ writing.
TL;DR: We’re getting an RX-9 when Half Life 3 drops.

Let’s wait for SkyActiv-D to get here first before we lose our minds...

I think Road and Track misses the point. The problem has never really been the rotary. It has been the reliability and packaging. The RX-8 was a driving baggy of compromises.

You’ll be sorry when I race my friend’s Mid engined vette in my RX-9 down to gamestop to buy our copies of Half-Life 3 30 years from now, hater.

I’ll believe it when it’s in showrooms.
That said, there’s more precedent for that than for the RX-9. No one has even seen RX-9 test mules yet and the car is supposed to be here in three years.

If there is a just and loving god, the RX9, the mid-engine Corvette and the new Toyota Supra will all go on sale the same year.

One of their official suppliers accidentally had it on their site briefly.
